But most of the formats are the same in all current and previous versions of Acrobat. New formats are occasionally added to this list, and a couple items have been deprecated in previous versions. Here is a list of the conversion formats available in Acrobat X. Acrobat can easily convert PostScript back into a clean PDF, so this is a perfect technique to use for converting a LiveCycle form into a flat, archival PDF.

I often use this conversion to completely flatten and remove all PDF features from a document. PostScript is a vector-based printing format closely related to PDF. The point is at least one of these trust mechanisms must be employed in order for a script to be able to silently save a PDF to disk. A file in a trusted folder is trusted and can run scripts that require privilege. With this method the user (or more likely a system admin) decides which folders they will trust.
A trusted folder is a setting in the Acrobat Preferences (shown in the screen shot below). Digital signatures, is most useful for business documents, such as contracts, that are passed back and forth between businesses or within an office.
The first two are useful for workflow automation. There are four main trust mechanisms Actions (batch sequences), trusted functions, digital signatures, and trusted folder settings. They are not suitable for publicly distributed files. Trust mechanisms are useful and appropriate in a small or closed environment, such as an office, or between parties that trust one another, such as a customer/vendor relationship. They have to either explicitly save the file using the File > Save… menu item, or implicitly allow the save through a trust mechanism. Users would not be very happy if random PDFs downloaded from the internet could silently save themselves to disk. Saving a PDF to disk in the Acrobat/Reader environment is a protected operation. Let me start right off by saying that it can only be done under very special circumstances. This is a common form feature requested in the Acrobat forums. This article presents scripts for not only saving a PDF file to disk, but also for saving the PDF to different formats, such as an image file, MS Word, text and even HTML.
Rather than selecting any commands at the top of the dialog, ignore everything. You’ll now be in the dialog where you can configure the sequence and this is where things get slightly counter-intuitive. Saving to a different file name, folder, and formatīeing able to save a file to disk is a critical activity for Acrobat workflow automation, and fortunately there are a couple ways to do this from a script. Go to the menu Advanced -> Document Processing -> Batch Processing.
